This 4 1/2 x 6 1/4 inch notecard features an image of a Jubilee De Le Champs Ermine who has decorated himself for Christmas. You can read his story below.
The inside of this card is blank so there is plenty of space for you to send special greetings to a special friend.
Here is Jubilee De Le Champs’s story as told to the artist.
As Jubilee de le Champs Ermine sat, white against white in the snow, she felt so alone. She could not even see over the next snow drift, nevermind know that she was in a community of multitudes. Just then, a flash caught her eye and she looked up. Across the inky indigo sky, a blazing trail carved its path. Breathtaking, it was the nudge needed to draw her attention upward, to see all that the comet had left in its wake: stars, bright and dim, large and small, near and far peppered the sky.
She wondered how many others, in how many other places…perhaps even in the next snowdrift…gazed up at the same night sky. “Why, I am not alone at all.” she said aloud. “This same night sky blankets all of us. If nothing else, we share this existence here, and perhaps that is enough.”
She scampered home excited and invigorated. As a nod to her inspiration, she collected every light she could find and decorated the entire house, floorboards right up to the rafters. She then hung posters on every tree for miles, in brilliant reds and greens and golds…colours of the leaves that, a few months ago, decorated the now barren branches. Bold, hand-painted letters invited all…to a celebration of community and togetherness – even in our separateness. And of the stars that, with just a glance above, are always there to remind us.
